Air conditioner Wiring Rules for Setting up a DC to AC Power Inverter

I am looking to setup a 6000 watt 12 volt dc to 120 volt ac power inverter with charger and transfer switch to use as home UPS. Can you make some Air conditioner (AC) wire recommendations? We are looking for 45 feet of AC wire.

Basically when you setup your dc to ac power inverter system you need to remember that strength of connection on the DC terminals will drastically affect the efficiency of your output load cabalities. Which means if the cables are not thick enough or are too long then you will not be able to use the full listed wattage on the DC to AC Power Inverter. As for the AC input outlets on the power inverter the length of the connection will not affect the output voltage in any way or weaken the AC current.

If you are looking to setup your DC to AC power inverter to your 12 volt battery bank and then hard wire the power inverter to AC breaker 45 feet away then I would recommend using 6 to 8 gauge cabling and wire to the breaker box. This will allow the charging current to reach the power inverter and battery bank. It is recommended to setup a more compact system if possible, but it is understood that in certain cases the batteries need to be a certain distance from the charging or utility current. Always remember that direct current is much more sensitive then the alternating current in your off grid dc to ac power system. If you are unsure about the cables sizes or acceptable lengths of your DC cables please consult a professional because this will be the most important part of the strength of your dc to ac power inverter setup. Lack of proper cabling can cause faults in your power inverter, faults in your electronics and false reading of your battery levels. Which most people then think they need to add additional batteries which will drive up the cost of your off grid system without reason. Even the quality of the terminal rings and composition of them will affect the stability of your system, lose or poor conducting material will result in substantial power loss.
